Visiting the Olympic National Park Rainforest is like stepping into a different world.

On the way into the park there is a sign stating that this is the largest Sitka Spruce in the USA. It was huge!

The hike thru the rainforest was unbelievable. The flora and fauna were like nothing we have seen before.

Everything was so lush and green. Moss was growing on everything making it feel mystical.

It was such a mystical feeling that I kept waiting for magical fairies to pop out.

I think the fairies were hiding in this tree trunk.

We found a Banana Slug. These are amazing creatures. They are the 2nd largest slug in the world.¬†another quite interesting fact, the slime on the slug is a natural anesthetic… Yes, that’s right.. their slime is a natural anesthetic!! So they protect themselves from small animals that may want to eat them. When another animal tries to eat them and then their mouth all goes numb, they spit them out thinking that they have been poisoned.
Here is a link with some info on them if you are interested.

Even though it was cold, rainy and wet this was an amazing adventure.  You need to see the Hoh Rainforest  yourself. The pictures don’t come close to the views you see in person.
